CONCEPT:

The site for the Grand Theatre is located in the geographical center between the twin cities of Rabat and Salé, the historical Kasbah Oudayas north-west, the ancient city of Rabat and the airport to the north-east, and the Royal Palace Chellah to the south-west and the proposed development Amwaj III sequence to the east.

Rabat Grand Theatre Architects.Zaha Hadid Zaha Hadid Architects has submitted designs for a theater in Rabat, Morocco.


Zaha Hadid Architects and announce the Valley Development Agency Bouregreg the Grand Theatre in Rabat Zaha Hadid, founding partner of Zaha Hadid Architects, and Essakl Lemghari, Director General of l'Agence pour l'Aménagement de la Vallée du Bouregreg (Bouregreg Valley Development Agency) signed an agreement for architectural design of the Grand Theatre in Rabat a ceremony held in Rabat on November 5 2010.


 During the event, Mr. Essakl also signed the agreement for financing the project with Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Taieb Cherkaoui, Interior Minister, and Mr. Abdelouahed Kabbaj, President of the Executive Board the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development.


The Grand Theatre will have two theaters, studios and a 7,000-capacity outdoor amphitheater.


With an area of ​​land devoted to 47 000 square meters and a gross area of ​​27 000 square meters, the Grand Theatre in Rabat is a cultural space of the highest standards.


It will include a 2050-seat theater, a small theater of 520 seats, creative studios and fully equipped, open-air amphitheater with a capacity of up to 7,000 people.


The project cost is estimated at 1.35 billion Moroccan dirhams (120 million euros).


The Gran Teatro is located in the valley of Bouregreg, an area of ​​6,000 hectares in the heart of the capital of Morocco, the home of one of the biggest events in the country.


In late 2014, the Valley will host a wide range of residential, commercial, leisure and entertainment complex, Rabat becoming one of the most attractive destinations in the Mediterranean area.


With its dynamic design, innovative and cutting-edge infrastructure, the Gran Teatro de Rabat is an important milestone in the region.

The design takes its power from the River Bouregreg.

The dynamics of the river enters the site, creating the landscape of the park surrounding the amphitheater. This gesture reflects the soil strength and sweep smoothly, it extends into the sky to generate the envelope is carved in two auditoriums, arching her back to earth and melts back into the landscape.

This formal gesture hides underlying economy sound strategy and support of internal organization.

The strength of the theater to the west shield outdoor amphitheater, both the sun and the sound of Moulay Hassan bridge.

The decision to align the three theaters of back-to-back "allows audiences of three to share the back of house facilities and reduce the size of building services.

These fluid sculptural forms to create a spatial experience that leads to the main lobby, molding the stairs. This fluidity provides an intuitive visual and physical guide for visitors.
